Historic Jaguar Mk11 340 (1968) - Manual with Overdrive, in Connaught Green (42,008 miles) - £54,995.00

The Jaguar Mark 2 is a medium-sized saloon car built from late 1959 to 1967 by Jaguar in Coventry, England. In September 1967 the Mark 2 cars were re-labelled 240 and 340. They were interim models introduced to fill the gap until the introduction of the XJ6 in September 1968. The 340 was discontinued on the introduction of the XJ6 but the 240 continued as a budget priced model until April 1969.

The Mark 2 was a fast and capable saloon, epitomised in Sir William Lyons own words as having "grace, pace and space". They came with either a 120 bhp (89 kW; 120 PS) 2,483 cubic centimetres (152 cu in), 210 bhp (160 kW; 210 PS) 3,442 cubic centimetres (210 cu in) or 220 bhp (160 kW; 220 PS) 3,781 cubic centimetres (231 cu in) Jaguar XK Engine.

Mark 2 production numbers were:

1959 to 1967

2.4 – 25,173

3.4 – 28,666

3.8 – 30,141

1967 to 1969:

240 – 4,446

340 – 2,788

380 – 12 (not a standard production option)

This 2 owner car (to be verified) from new is absolutely stunning. Having undergone a complete high quality, 2 year rebuild in 1998 /2000, from the monocoque upwards it is an as near perfect example of the marque currently available. Nothing has been left to chance and every component has been both thoroughly inspected and refurbished.

The vehicle has had little use since its rebuild. It is presented in its original colour of Connaught green with matching original Ambla upholstery, is equipped with 4 speed manual gearbox including the optional overdrive, has disc brakes all round and sits on Chromed Wire Wheels with White Wall Tyres. The full engine rebuild included converting to the use of unleaded fuel, and the original toolkit is still in place. All of which have been captured in a comprehensive set of pictures.

In summary the quality of this car really needs to be seen to be believed the doors close beautifully, the panel gap is near perfect and it is a joy to drive.  In short this is a historic fast touring car, with loads of character, which is very usable on a daily base.

Please call for an appointment to view the car and its history file, you will not be disappointed.
